Demystifying your Digital Camera
Saturday June 14 12p-2p

Today’s point and shoot cameras are packed with so many features, it‘s confusing to just about everyone. In this class, we’ll show you how to get the most out of your digital camera. Get tips for specific shooting situations and learn how to adjust for different lighting, how to control file sizes, how to deal with shutter lag, how to manage and print your pictures. Clear up the mysteries with our point and shoot specialist, David Weitz! Class size is limited to 8 students.

Getting the Most from Your DSLR 101
Saturday, June 14, 2:30 - 4:30

If you have a DSLR and suspect that you’re not getting all the power from it, this is the class for you. In this informal setting, you’ll learn how to unlock the creative potential and features hidden in your camera. Looking Glass staff members make it fun and easy.

Topics include advanced exposure and focus modes, using an on camera flash, how using the right lens effects your final results, controlling white balance, saturation, sharpness, and noise reduction, shooting JPEG vs RAW, using software to enhance your images, and how to back up and store your images. Bring your questions. Class size is limited to 8 students.

Getting the Most from Your DSLR 201
Saturday, June 28 12p-2p

In this class, you'll learn how to master the more advanced features of your DSLR, including manual camera controls, metering modes, ISO control and M, Tv, AV shooting, and more. You'll discover the pros and cons of shooting in different formats including RAW and TIF as well as get answers to the age-old question "What resolution should I shoot at?" Learn how, when, and why to change color spaces, white balance and more! Also covered: how to get more from your flash. Class size is limited to 8 students.

Intro to PhotoShop CS/2/3
Mondays June, 2, 9, 16 & 23rd class time: 6-8pm

Adobe Photoshop is the professional standard in desktop digital imaging. This class will concentrate on those features needed to edit your digital images. We will cover the basics for understanding Photoshop including: viewing and saving your files, resizing and cropping, and using the canvas. We will focus on understanding layers, image adjustments, using levels and curves, hue/saturation, color balance, black and white conversion, how to use the select and image editing tools to work on photographs, and more. Finally, we will discuss the importance of proper color management and workflow techniques. Although not a mandatory requirement, to get the most out of this class students should have a laptop computer with PS installed. Assignments allow students to practice the tools and techniques learned in class.

Take Control Of Your Camera
Six-Session Class: Tuesdays 6/24, 7/1, 7/8, 7/22, 7/29, 8/5 class time: 6-8pm.

This six-session class is for photographers who have a Digital SLR or Compact Digital Camera, who wish to improve their photographic skills. We will explain camera functions, transferring, burning cds, digital accessories, and image file management. We will explain resolution and compression, investigate the creative aspects of digital photography, and will discuss the importance of obtaining correct exposure and how to use your camera's histogram to achieve this goal. Some other concepts and techniques covered will be shutter effects depth of field, and creative use of white balance and filters. The student will learn a clear and understandable approach to composing great photographs, and how to gain more control over the design of their pictures by subject placement, proper framing, and selecting a point of view. Photographic assignments and a field trip will allow the student to practice the tools and techniques learned in class. The destination of the field trip will be announced in class.

Intro To Color Management

This class is for anyone who has struggled to get what they see on their screen onto paper. We'll talk about the difference between RBG and CYMK color, gamuts, color management systems and demonstrate monitor calibration and the use of icc profiles for printing.

You'll learn how to preview what you're going to get, and exactly how to set up Photoshop for the best results possible. Our Photoshop 101 class or basic familiarity with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements will help you get the most from this class. Class limited to 8 students.
