The next Looking Glass Day Trip is finally here! Our Destination: Angel Island. Looking Glass and the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation (AIISF) have teamed up to bring you this day of exploring Angel Island and Touring the Immigration Station with AIISF Program Manager, Danielle Wetmore.

• Date & Time: Sunday, October 15th. Once on Angel Island, we will embark at roughly 11:00am on our adventure.
• Getting There: By Ferry from either Tiburon in Marin County, or from San Francisco depending on what is most convenient for you. (Learn more in the "Logistics" section further below)

PHOTOGRAPHY DAY TRIP & ADVENTURE

As with all Looking Glass Day Trips, this is a fun opportunity to join fellow photography & adventure lovers for a casual meetup to explore and photograph a unique location in the Bay Area. Looking Glass and AIISF representatives will lead the group from the Ferry landing on a wonderful walk chock full of photography opportunities as we make our way to the historic Angel Island Immigration Station. Morning Arrival by Ferry

Start your day with excitement as you gather with fellow photography enthusiasts at the ferry terminal. Whether you're arriving from San Francisco or Marin, you'll connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion for photography.

Meet Our Guide - Danielle Wetmore

Danielle Wetmore is the Program Manager for Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation, and will be our key to unlocking the island's past, as well as the present. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for Angel Island's history will make your journey truly exceptional.

Hike to the Immigration Station

Embark on a picturesque walk/hike through the island's breathtaking landscape on your way to the Immigration Station. Capture stunning shots of nature's beauty and learn intriguing facts from Danielle about the Island's past.

Photography Opportunities Abound

No matter your level of expertise, you'll find lots of inspiration as you frame striking photographs of Angel Island's scenery, wildlife, and plant life. Each moment is an opportunity to refine your photography skills.

Immersive Immigration Station Tour

Explore the Immigration Station. Danielle will lead us through select structures, offering unique historical backgrounds and yes, time for your photography. Immerse yourself in the stories and emotions of this historic site.

Lunch with a View

Since we'll be here for a good part of the day, many of us will likely need some sustenance to recharge. Lunch will NOT be provided on the Island, but we welcome and encourage you to bring your own lunch and/or snacks. We'll dedicate some time to recharging and taking in the views. We can swap stories, savor the tranquil atmosphere, and of course take more pictures!

As we journey back to the ferry landing, the adventure continues. Capture Angel Island's beauty from every angle – sweeping panoramas and hidden details that tell a story. Each shot is a chance to express your creativity.

LOGISTICS

We will all meetup at the Ferry landing on Angel Island, with the goal of embarking on our adventure at 10:30am. You have two Ferry Ride options to choose from to get to Angel Island: Golden Gate Ferry from San Francisco or the Tiburon Ferry in Marin County. PLEASE NOTE: Ferry tickets are NOT included with registration.

• San Francisco - Angel Island: Departs 10:15am and arrives at Angel Island at 10:45am. The current rate (as of 9/18/23) for a ferry ticket is $31 round trip.
• Tiburon - Angel Island: Departs 10:00am and arrives at Angel Island at 10:15am. The current rate (as of 9/18/23) for a ferry ticket is $18.00 round trip.

Upon registration, Looking Glass will send you links regarding the Ferry options and we will also schedule a PRE-TRIP online Zoom meeting to discuss the Trip and answer any questions you may have.
