THE PHOTOGRAPHER’S GUIDE: ALAMEDA

This place is exceptional. History. Beauty. Vibrant Life. All these things lend to a great experience, and plenty of amazing photography subjects. Looking Glass Photo & Camera in Berkeley has long supported the Arts in the Bay Area, and each photographer who seeks to capture it in photos. Below we partner with one of our photography workshop instructors, Alameda local Michael Kawano, to offer you inspiration, ideas on great places to photograph, and even one of our most popular workshops that features a field shoot at Alameda’s Bay Farm Lagoons.

Inspiration: Alameda in Pictures (by local photographer Michael Kawano)

The USS Hornet
“The Ferry Point area around the USS Hornet is great. With a nice sunset and the city in the background,
it’s hard to take a bad shot.”

Bay Farm Lagoons
“I love shooting here. There are usually plenty of egrets, cormorants, herons, and other birds to photograph,
as well as a nice variety of landscape compositions to discover.”

The Bridges of Alameda
“The bridges in Alameda are a favorite subject of mine. They have interesting and unique shapes, and since
they are around waterways, are great places for picking up reflections of sunrise and sunset colors.”
