And Sony has done it again with the introduction of their NEW a6400 Mirrorless Camera. With the a6400, you’ll receive significant new feature sets including 4K video, time lapse shooting, silent shooting and real time AF tracking. These features and more have been included, as a result of input from photography enthusiasts just like you.

Sony also announced new mobile apps, as well as firmware updates for the a9, a7R III and a7 III. Read on for all the details. The mobile apps, called Imaging Edge, enhances mobile connectivity and expands the creative capabilities of Sony Cameras.

These new mobile apps will enhance your mobile connectivity and expand the creative capabilities of your Sony Cameras. Just announced this month:

  • Imaging Edge Mobile: This App allows you to transfer still images/videos to a smartphone, enables remote shooting, and provides location information to images captured by a Sony camera. Imaging Edge Mobile is an application that succeeds PlayMemories Mobile. The app should be released this Spring.
  • Transfer & Tagging Add-On: For professional photographers, speeds up the workflow of transferring still images. “FTP background transfer” and “High-speed tagging/captioning” are available on your smartphone. The app should be released this Spring.

Sony says the firmware update for the a9 is so major, that it’s essentially an upgrade to the camera. They’re also releasing updates for the a7R III and the a7 III:

    “These new firmware upgrades demonstrate the strong commitment that Sony has to our customers,” said Neal Manowitz, vice president of Imaging Solutions at Sony Electronics. “Their voice is critical to everything we do, and being able to provide our customers with new capabilities is a source of great pride for Sony.”
