Photo Friends
Photography is often a solo pursuit. But it doesn’t have to be.
Maybe you’ve wanted to photograph the ocean at dawn, or visit that trail you keep hearing about. Maybe you’ve thought: “I’d love to go... I just wish I had someone to go with.” We hear that a lot. So we created Photo Friends.
It’s a space for photographers who want more than just gear talk or social media likes. This is for people who want to get out in the world with others who understand what it means to wait for the light to shift, to slow down for the perfect frame, or to simply enjoy the process with good company.
And let’s be honest—sometimes it just feels safer to explore with others. Whether you're carrying expensive gear or venturing into unfamiliar territory, there’s comfort in not going it alone. Photo Friends is about connection, creativity, and the kind of camaraderie that makes you feel not just inspired, but supported.
What Photo Friends Is
A community of photographers who plan casual outings, join each other’s adventures, and stay inspired by doing what they love—with others who love it too.
It’s not a club with rules. It’s not a workshop with homework. It’s a lightly guided space with one purpose: helping photographers connect and create, in real life.
How It Works
1. Apply once to join. It’s quick, and helps keep the community thoughtful and intentional.
2. We’ll connect briefly—just a casual chat to make sure it’s the right fit.
3. Then you’re in. You’ll get access to a private calendar where you can post your own photo outings or join those created by others.
That’s it. No apps, no algorithms. Just people making plans and showing up.
Why Photo Friends
Because it’s easy to say “I should go shoot more.” It’s harder to do it alone. Photo Friends makes it easier to follow through—by giving you a place to share ideas, find company, and stay connected to what inspires you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Photo Friends is a community space for photographers who want to make more time for photography—and do it alongside others. It’s not a class, not a club, and not a social media group. It’s a way to connect with real people for real outings.
Not at all. What matters most is that you love making photographs and want to spend more time doing it. Whether you shoot film or digital, use a phone or a full-frame camera, you’re welcome here.
Everything from weekday photo walks and weekend day trips to occasional art shows and conversational meetups. Some outings are spontaneous and local; others are planned in advance. You can join what's already on the calendar or create your own.
Zero! This isn’t a commitment-based group. It’s here when you want it, and the more you engage, the more you get out of it. But there’s no pressure to keep up or show up beyond what works for you.
Nope. We use a private calendar and communication hub that keeps things simple and off social media. It’s easy to access and easy to use.
It helps us get to know you a little before inviting you in—and helps ensure the community stays thoughtful, welcoming, and genuinely interested in showing up.
You’ll hear from us to schedule a short, casual meetup (in person or over Zoom). If it feels like a good fit, we’ll send you access to the Photo Friends calendar and hub. If not, we'll refund your application fee.
There’s a one-time $144 annual fee (that’s $12/month), which helps keep the calendar and community supported and intentional. It also tells us you’re serious about making photography a bigger part of your life.
Sometimes, sure. Each outing is a little different, and it’s always up to the person hosting. Some gatherings are open to guests, others are focused on photography and work best with fellow photographers.
That’s totally okay. Many Photo Friends feel the same way. Outings are low-key, unstructured, and you can join at your own comfort level. This is a judgment-free, pressure-free space. Everyone was new once.
